Michael Rosen

Michael Rosen is a writer & broadcaster, for both children & adults. He was born in Harrow in 1946 & lives in East London. He is the author of innumerable best-selling books for kids, while his adult titles include the collections You Are, Aren't You? & The Skin Of Your Back (Five Leaves Press) & Carrying the Elephant & This is Not my Nose (Penguin)

Carrying the Elephant & This is Not my Nose are published in audio by 57 Productions in a special double-CD edition. Both autobiographical in nature, the first of these extended sequences of prose-poems traces an up-bringing within a radical Jewish family, the story of a marriage & its breakdown, the loss of a dear son & the rediscovery of love. The second recounts the story of a personal illness – undiagnosed for years - & recovery from it

Both explore the themes of personal & political awareness within contexts such as the cold-war & the current ‘war on terror’ - & both offer a rare revealing honesty, an original humour & a unique intimacy. As one of our most popular poets, performers & radio presenters – audio is Michael Rosen’s natural element

Michael's poem - A family arrived - is featured on the poetry jukebox & a deeper sampling of his work can be found in Poetry in Performance Volume 2 (CD), for more information, please click here

Michael's work is available on the iPoems system
