57 Media Intro

57 Productions is engaged in a growing media programme, taking in radio, film & tv - & now special online productions, i.e. www.ipoems.org.uk & www.poetryvideojukebox.com - more about which you can read here.

As an agency 57 represents a wide-range of writers & performers, especially to radio, in a wide variety of formats, including performances, interviews, discussions & commissions.
The BBC, independent, community & international radio are also increasingly drawing upon the 57 audio-catalogue in arts, current affairs & other programmes.

We aim to link-up to these stations where & when we can.
Furthermore 57 is also working on the co-production of 3 documentary films - which we sample on this site: Spill the Rhymes: a short black & white film on John Cooper Clarke on the road – seen at documentary film festivals in London, Sheffield & in the States - made by Phil Hayes plus Shadda: a film of Kamau Brathwaite’s extraordinary performance & talk at The Africa Centre (in Summer 2002) - introduced by Linton Kwesi Johnson; in partnership with Optic Nerve
&
Poetry Against War: a film of the event 57 co-organised on the 14th of February 2003 at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London – featuring Benjamin Zephaniah, Tony Harrison, Saadi Yousef, Sarah Maguire, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, Adrian Mitchell, Moniza Alvi, Mahmood Jamal, Mr Social Control & Michael Rosen, plus special guests; in partnership with Teamvideo - which is now available on the Poetry Video-Jukebox & as a limited edition video.
